Short Term Accommodation – Respite Care with Q1Care
Sometimes, taking a short break from home is exactly what you need, whether it is to try new things, build your independence, meet new people, or give your regular support network a chance to recharge.
At Q1Care, our Short Term Accommodation (STA) provides more than just a place to stay. It is a safe, welcoming space with personalised support to help you enjoy your time away while staying connected to your goals.
What STA means under the NDIS
The NDIS funds Short Term Accommodation, including respite, to cover the cost of your care and supports while you stay somewhere else for a short period. This can be with other participants or on your own, depending on your needs.
- STA must be included in your NDIS plan or be funded through your Core budget
- The NDIS usually funds up to 28 days per year, which you can use flexibly, such as a weekend each month, a week at a time, or a block of up to 14 days
- STA can include personal care, accommodation, meals, and agreed activities
- It is designed to be disability related support rather than a holiday and must connect to your plan goals, such as building independence, learning new skills, or giving your informal supports a break

Why participants choose STA with Q1Care
- Warm, personalised approach where we take time to understand your interests and needs
- Accessible, comfortable homes in Brisbane South, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, and the Gold Coast
- Daily living support from experienced staff

When STA might be right for you

- You need short term support while your usual arrangements are unavailable
- You want to maintain your independence while exploring different living arrangements

Using your NDIS funding for STA
You can ask for STA to be built into your plan or choose to use part of your Core budget for it. Your Support Coordinator or Local Area Coordinator can help make sure your plan supports your STA needs.
Q1 Care can offer STA stays ranging from a single night to a few weeks, tailored to your goals and the way you like to spend your time. Click on the link below to talk about how STA could work for you.
